Brief History

The Empire of Iuris is a vast eastern empire that encompasses several types of terrains and cultures. It came to being six hundred years ago following a massive war that encompassed the entirety of the eastern continent. Iuris escaped the war without any major losses, and the remaining kingdoms offered little resistance. Due to the state of the lands that Iuris took over, there was a great deal of unrest, and residual discontent remains in parts of the south. Because of this, the leaders and authority figures of Iuris were often given a great deal of power so they could deal with insurgents and criminals quickly. Many were and are considered harsh. It wasn’t until the reign of Emperor Haakon Palatinate that a full scale rebellion presented a threat to the throne. Emperor Haakon perished in one of the early battles, and his son, Carolus, took the throne. He created laws that were even tougher on the people, and he gave guards and soldiers more power to exert over civilians. Regardless of the peoples’ views on the new decrees, Carolus crushed the rebellion after several months, and his rule became undisputed.
