Farris Rebellion

The Farris Rebellion was a ten month revolt that sprung up in the Farris region of Galytir. Growing tension in the area regarding abusive treatment from guards, a famine seemingly ignored by Emperor Haakon, and an increase in monsters roaming the wilderness triggered the insurrection. There was initially no organized group. It began as multiple uprisings scattered around the region. Later on, the rebelling parties banded together to form the Farris Independence Group, although they are often referred to as the Farris Rebels.

In the rebellion’s second month, Emperor Haakon personally led an army against a group of insurgents to prove he was more than capable of keeping it under control. On the way to the battlefield, his army was ambushed, and he was slain when a sorcerer struck him with a bolt of lightning. His son, Carolus Palatinate, was crowned emperor upon receiving the news. Carolus immediately began building a massive force. Scores of mercenaries joined the legion. In the remaining months, Carolus led battle after battle, crushing resistance forces bit by bit. On the tenth month, the remaining rebel condensed into a single force and fortified themselves in a mountain path, one that guaranteed them an impenetrable defense. However, they were betrayed by a member of their own force, one who revealed a path around the rebels’ wall. 1,600 of the remaining 2,100 rebels were killed in the ensuing battle, and almost all others who were captured were executed.
